2022 Spring Trends

2022 Spring Trends

Spring is one of the best times of the year, and is loved for so many different reasons. Ever so slowly and steadily the weather begins to warm up, the birds return from their winter hiatus, and the sun sticks around just a little longer in the evenings. Spring is also known as the season of new beginnings. New beginnings can be found not only in the beauty of nature but also in our homes. Many eagerly anticipate the first available opportunity to open the windows for the first time since fall. There is nothing more calming than seeing the curtains billowing in the warm breeze. Since spring is the season of new beginnings, it only makes sense that it is a fun time of year to update a few corners of the home. Many find that a quick way to update their home is by making a quick trip to their local HomeGoods Store! This season there are a couple of home décor trends that are making a huge splash…

  1. Rattan: Boho design elements have been making quite a comeback lately. The carefree, lack of structure Bohemian style exudes a super calming organic feel. This classic 70's natural vibe material is being revived with straighter lines and darker or mid-tone stains. “Rattan” is a type of material, not to be confused with “wicker,” a weaving technique. However, some rattan furniture is made using the wicker technique. It’s really not too confusing. Often, you’ll see things such as baskets, chairs, and patio furniture made from rattan. Keeping a rattan basket full of comfy blankets in the living room is a great idea!
  2. Built-In-Storage: Who doesn't love an organized living environment? And now it's a trend! Built-ins are taking over every space of the house-kitchens, bathrooms, closets, and living rooms. Is there really even such a thing as "too many built-ins"? Spring cleaning is a great way to start the process of organizing your home. Don’t let the thought of adding built-ins overwhelm you—start small. Look online for ideas!
  3. British Revival: Don't be afraid to do a little research on this trend. The British revival style is a mix of classic and modern British-style elements. To nail this trend, think bold floral wallpaper, chintz curtains, and upcycled vintage furniture. The style incorporates an abundance of different fabrics, materials, and prints (think florals). The furniture tends to have more of a Victorian flair with sofas and chairs low landing and covered with a soft tapestry. Soft, diffused lighting is what illuminates each cozy room. You will want to choose to accent your home with wall lamps, table lamps, or floor lamps. Stores such as HomeGoods, Marshalls, At Home, and Target offer an abundance of affordable home décor options (as does Amazon).

Trends always have an expiration date—though we often do not know when that exact date may be. That is why it so fun to find affordable ways to incorporate a new season or year’s trend. Adding a few small trending home décor pieces can update a home nicely. Happy decorating!
